Management
Barbara (Babs) Gellman is Converica’s Chief Executive Officer. Included in Barbara’s experience are senior management, software development and business
process improvement. Her intimate involvement, having run the gamut of roles,
with the development and implementation of software has provided insight into
the causes of project success and failure. Having worked each side of the
client/vendor relationship she carries with her both perspectives. Based upon
her wealth of knowledge and experience, Barbara has founded Converica Limited to
provide Consulting, Software Solutions and Technology Services, based upon
precepts designed to provide a satisfying experience to all involved.
Before founding Converica, in 2002, Barbara relocated to London, England from St. Louis, Missouri, USA. She had been sought out to establish and provide oversight for
RGA Technology Partners, Inc. UK region. As Director of the UK Region, she was
the key point of contact for all activities in the area. She was responsible for
ensuring the successful installation and maintenance of the AURA suite of
products (providing expert underwriting and back-office new business processing
solutions to the life insurance industry.) In this role, she joined in
architecting solutions to meet client goals, resulting in the successful
installations at five clients in the UK.
Prior to RTP, Barbara spent four years in the software industry with a focus on internet supported products. She was
involved in the design of an underwriting system, a flagship question and answer
product and an internet front-end for an administrative system.
Before joining the software community, Barbara spent twenty-five years in the private passenger
automobile insurance industry. This saw her involved in all aspects of policy
sales and service, in methods and procedures analysis, regulatory and
compliance, and in management. In her last five years in this industry she
helped to establish and grow a start up insurance company. This provided the
opportunity to become involved in software development and testing, as the start
up company partnered with a software vendor to create a quotation and
administrative system. This experience provided a unique experience and greater
insight into the development of an insurance company, client-vendor
relationships and software design.
